The following is not a "typo." Yes, our family including three children visited Wilderness Trails Ranch... in the summer of 1987! 1987. I am happy to see that the reviews posted here are completely consistent with our experience. What a delight!
Our Daughter went to Horse Camp last year and it was the highlight of her summer. We went to see her new skills on the friday rodeo and came away impressed with the facilities and the people. Overall we are having her go back again this year and look forward to our other children being old enough to go as well.
Stunning scenery; and the lodge and guest cabins were built and placed in such a way as to make me feel like part of it rather than intruding on it. WTR had a hand-picked staff and wranglers who not only knew their jobs but were experts at making me feel wholly welcome and part of the family. They went well beyond my expectations to teach me horsemanship and to support and encourage me no matter how "green" or "raw" I was at whatever I attempted, and by the end of the week, my confidence around horses was dramatically improved. Can luxury mix with an authentic Western experience? You betcha!! My accommodations and the food were outstanding and the staff and wranglers didn't just wait on me - they catered to my slightest whim. With a wide variety of activities and personally designed horsemanship clinics, WTR made my vacation the most delightful and memorable one I've ever had.
Also, the kids programs were well organized and supervised.
The level of service at WTR was excellent with the staff going out of their way to accommodate guests. Special events and outdoor activities were customized daily. I was able to take advantage of all of the numerous activities (riding, hiking, biking, boating) on my schedule.
WTR met & exceeded my expectations for celebrating our 50th Anniversary with family. Everyone, from age 4 to 76, had a GREAT TIME! The children's program keeps the kids busy all day with exciting outdoor activities, including horseback riding, archery, roping, adventures in the woods, etc. The horses are well-trained, the wranglers professional, the wonderful Roberts family makes you feel like an honored guest, the food 'to die for' and the gorgeous Colorado scenery is spectacular. There are activities for everyone - hiking, mountain biking, water sports, or just relaxing with a cup of coffee. Loved it, loved it, loved it!!
